I am self taught, and I have been drawing since I was 3 years old. I am foremost an illustrator - which lends itself well for a variety of art. I work in many different mediums, and enjoy learning new materials. I enjoy working in pen, ink & watercolor, scratch art, block printing, and silk painting. I love botanical illustrations and I am inspired by the nature and wildlife we have in our area.
The scratch art came about many years ago on the black scratchboard that is pre-inked and easily found in art stores. I loved working in reverse per say on that board and scratching all the little lines and detail out. Then it happened I was teaching at our community college a silk painting class and one of my students carried in the claybord that you paint the ink on yourself, I ran out and purchased the supplies and I fell in love with this medium. I tell people when I am demonstrating that it's the same as drawing but with a knife. The art work has evolved tremendously over the years and I believe this is my niche. I enjoy other mediums and a good craft project too!
This website is dedicated mainly to my Scratch Art | Scratch Board Illustrations.
